Cherry blossom photography walk

Capture the beauty of Kumano on Mi-Kumano’s photo hike

Cherry blossoms

Sakura season is one of the best times to capture a great shot of Kumano’s mountains and blue sky, and, of course, the cherry blossoms! Come with us for a beautiful walk and get some great material for your blog or Japan albums.

This hike will be led by one of our guides, who will introduce participants to the Hongu Grand Shrine as well as all other points of interest along the trail. Please bring any questions you have about the Kodo!

From the World Heritage Center in Hongu we’ll hike an hour up the Omine route to Nanakoshi Peak, where the nightingales will probably serenade you in the dappled sunlight. From the nearby viewpoint you’ll catch a view of the legendary 3,600 peaks of Kumano and the great torii gate at Oyunohara, the original site of the Kumano Hongu Grand Shrine.

Lots of chances for zoom shots of the torii gate

As you descend through the blossoming cherry trees with the Ogawa stream burbling nearby, you’ll have wide angles of cherry petals, and snapshots of your fellow hikers. Recharge your batteries, and we’ll see you there!
