The Power of Nature
On January 22nd we volunteered by cleaning and painting buildings in the Kawabune neighborhood of Kumanogawa.
Reconstruction of the neighborhood after the huge typhoon in September started from the riverbanks.
We were happy to see a purplish-red plant sprout working its way up from the ground. From some of the scarred land near the river, a wild chrysanthemum was blooming.
Nature is indefatigable. Without complaint, it continues its cycle of life.
In a few more years this area will return to its beautiful natural state and be a place of respite for people passing by.
